Script to Screen

July 1st, 2008 by Jon Mobley

Lights, camera, action! Video can be a powerful way to reach your audience. But while modern technology makes video creation as simple as recording and uploading online, the result lacks the professional edge audiences expect. Main-1-Media combines careful planning with quality tools and experience to help you stand out from the competition. We follow a strategic approach that involves three detailed stages of production.

  1. Pre-Production: The planning stage begins by formulating great ideas through an outline and script, visualized with storyboards.
  2. Production: Shooting the video either on location or in our studio, utilizing professional quality equipment including HD cameras.
  3. Post-Production: All the elements are seamlessly edited together into the final video for distribution to web, television and DVD.

A project may require more or less time in each stage. Using this process as a guide ensures a high quality video that effectively communicates the intended message on time and on budget. For more information check out our “Script to Screen” video that further explains our development process.

YouTube Video Quality

June 30th, 2008 by Jon Mobley

YouTube has quickly become one of the most popular free video hosting sites online. However you get what you pay for, and until recently that has meant low resolution videos. But YouTube has heard my woes, and my desire to show professional videos with higher quality is being realized.

Google, owner of YouTube, explains that “As more of you guys produce great-looking videos, we want to make sure they can be seen in all their glory.”

YouTube is recognizing that having great content on low quality videos is no longer satisfying audiences. Communicating your message with professional quality is what will keep viewers flocking to you.

Why Widescreen?

May 12th, 2008 by Jon Mobley

Many of the videos we produce are in shot in the widescreen format. Our eyes naturally see this format better than standard 4×3, and the result is a more cinematic look.

When you have the option to watch a movie in fullscreen or widescreen format, what do you choose? Many people are annoyed by widescreen videos because on a standard television you see black bars above and below the image. But by choosing to watch a widescreen video in fullscreen, you’re actually not getting the full experience. The widescreen format actually shows more than fullscreen, which is demonstrated by a video from AMC.
